How does Generic Lioresal (Baclofen) work?

Generic Lioresal (Baclofen) is related to and acts like a specific neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Neurotransmitters are chemicals in the brain that the nerves use to communicate with each other. GABA’s main function is to decrease the activity of other nerves. Because Generic Lioresal (Baclofen) acts like GABA, it blocks the activity of those nerves in the brain that control the contraction and relaxation of skeletal muscles, leading to the reduction of spasms.
