How does Generic Celebrex (Celecoxib) work?

Generic Celebrex (Celecoxib) works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (more specifically, cyclooxygenase 2, or cox-2) enzymes that catalyze the production of prostanoids, substances that catalyze inflammation and pain. Generic Celebrex (Celecoxib) is believed to halt the production of prostanoids, lessening pain, without compromising the homeostatic quality of cyclooxygenase in the kidneys, stomach, and gastrointestinal tract, thus protecting the GI system.
