Generic Caduet (Amlodipine 5mg & Atorvastatin 10mg) contains two active ingredients. Atorvastatin is a type of drug called an HMG CoA reductase inhibitor, which blocks the production of cholesterol. Amlodipine belongs to a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It relaxes the blood vessels, improves blood flow and makes it easier for the heart to pump. The combination of Amlodipine and Atorvastatin is effective for treating high blood pressure (hypertension) or chest pain (angina) as a result of high cholesterol or high triglyceride levels.

How does Generic Caduet work?
Generic Caduet works by combining the actions of two active ingredients. Atorvastatin works by blocking a particular enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which controls the level of cholesterol in the body the production of cholesterol. This causes the liver to make less cholesterol. Atorvastin also increases the liver’s ability to get rid of LDL or bad cholesterol, increases HDL or good cholesterol and decreases triglycerides (which are bound to fatty tissue). Amlodipine belongs to a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Amlodipine helps slow down the rate at which calcium moves into your heart and blood vessel walls. It relaxes the blood vessels, improves blood flow and makes it easier for the heart to pump. The combination of Amlodipine and Atorvastatin is effective for treating high blood pressure (hypertension) or chest pain (angina) as a result of high cholesterol or high triglyceride levels.
Avoid consuming alcohol and beverages containing even a small percentage of alcohol whilst on an ongoing course of Generic Caduet. Alcohol may increase your risk of liver damage. It can also further lower blood pressure and can increase some of the side effects of Amlodipine and Atorvastatin.
